VACUUMS |
My
vacuum will not pick up. |
Always
turn your cleaner off and disconnect it from the electrical outlet.
- Check
the belt to make sure it is not worn or broken and that the agitator
moves freely.
- Check
the bag to see if it is full.
- Check
the airstream for possible clogging. If you have recently installed
new carpet it may shed fiber and lead to a clogged airstream or
require the bag to be replaced more frequently. Objects may also
become lodged obstructing the airflow.
- Over
a period of time, the agitator may become worn.

Why
are my belts breaking after a short period of time? |
Raise
the height adjustment to a higher setting and avoid picking up the
corners of throw rugs.
If
you have had the vacuum for a while, remove the agitator brush.
Hold the brush in your hands and rotate the endcaps in opposite
directions. This will allow you to check for hair/debris that may
have gotten inside the endcaps, which can cause the bearings in
the brush to not spin freely; thus, causing belt breakage. |

My
vacuum has a burning rubber smell. |
A
broken or severely stretched belt will cause a burnt rubber smell.
Picking up sharp objects or the ends of throw rugs can cause the
belt to stretch or snap. Replacement belts are available at vacuum
shops and many department and hardware stores. Replacing the belt
only requires a screwdriver for most models to remove the bottom
plate providing access. Always turn your vacuum off and disconnect
it from the electrical outlet. |
| |
When
should I replace my belt? |
The
belt should be checked periodically for any signs of wear that can
result from normal use over time, possibly affecting the cleaning
performance of your cleaner. Replacing the belt only requires a
screwdriver for most models to remove the bottom plate providing
access. Always turn your vacuum off and disconnect it from the electrical
outlet. |
| |
How
often should I change the bag in my vacuum? |
Under
normal use conditions, the bag should be changed when it becomes
filled to the indicator line on the bag. Certain models are equipped
with a "Check Bag" indicator, which is activated when
the bag becomes full. Certain debris such as fine dust will cause
reduced filtration through the bag. Under these conditions, the
bag should be changed more often. |
| |
Should
my vacuum motor be lubricated and if so, how often? |
Motors
are equipped with bearings, which contain sufficient lubrication
for the life of the motor. Do not add lubricant to motor bearings.
If your model has an agitator, it is equipped with two ball bearings
that should be lubricated periodically by a repair technician. |
| |
Are
AMP’s a good measure of cleaning power? |
No.
AMPs are merely the amount of electrical current a vacuum draws
when the power is on. An efficient vacuum cleaner design may provide
better cleaning power with reduced electrical usage. |

PRESSURE
WASHERS |
My
pressure washer has no pressure. |
Check
the tip of the wand. Often, upon first engaging the spray, a “kickback”
occurs causing the user to drop the wand – dirt can get lodged in
the tip, blocking the stream. |
| CARPET
EXTRACTORS |
My
carpet tool is not spraying. |
Check
the spray jets. These jets can get clogged very easily with dirt
and debris. A mild stripper solution can help clear them or bring
it in to the service department. |
